Johnson Seamless Aluminum Gutters
Why you need Gutters
You will find two secrets to your roofing system that is great. The first is, obviously, the roof itself. The 2nd, in which lots of homeowners neglect or don’t even think about, is a successful drainage system, also called the gutters.
Where the water goes is extremely important. If it’s not dispersed properly it will cost you thousands. The majority of homes that have their original gutters are dealing with mold or mildew issues close to all areas of your home, decaying wood in the general area of the gutters, pest invasion, landscaping erosion to the exterior border.
In choosing the right system for your house you should consider aesthetics, costs, and your surroundings. Here are some items to contemplate.
1. Understand Your Situation
When understanding your home’s unique situation you must determine how much rain and snow you usually get on a yearly basis. Also what kind of trees do you have when it comes to dealing with falling leaves and other tree particles.
What type or kind of gutter system are your neighbors around you using and is that system working for them? Who did they hire to install their system and are they happy with he end results?
2. Understanding What Is Available To You
There is a variety of guttering systems out there…and at reasonable costs. The most common used kind is Plastic if doing it by yourself but I would not even give these a thought as they are the most troublesome system you will run into. And quite honestly a complete waste of your time because they just don’t work.
The Best product on the market today is Seamless Aluminium Gutters. Which come in the standard 5″ or 6″ design. It will last for a very long time and will probably be the last gutters you pay for barring any major storms that cause damage to them via falling limbs or large hail stones. They come in a very large assortment of colors so choosing the right color for your home should not be an issue. They are the easiest system in which to adapt to your houses design or layout.
The biggest issue with non-seamless systems has normally been that leaks constantly develop at the joints or seams due to the uneven weight associated with non-seamless systems as time passes. The methods used now to solve these problems have been to use more nails and better sealants. But when it comes to these techniques that are used for sectional systems you are just putting a band-aid on the problem not actually solving it.
Seamless gutters do not have these problems. As they are able to be custom-fitted for each individual house. The downside, however, is the fact that it will cost more than the crappy plastic system but they will last much longer. If you choose to go down this path, you will be extremely happy because you will reap the benefits of the look and the final results.
3. Our Downspout Selection
Downspouts generally come in two common sizes. 2″ x 3″ and 3″ x 4″. We used to use 2″ x 3″ downspouts but here at Johnson Exteriors we have recently transitioned to mainly using 3″ x 4″ downspouts for the majority of our clients. We will still use the 2″ x 3″ for certain situations when we can’t use 3″ x 4″ but that is it. They honestly just handle so much more water that it is silly to use the smaller ones. And of course, the come in the same colors.
The best decision you can make is deciding to get your new gutters if you need them. Once installed you will be very pleased and glad to have that project crossed off of your to-do list.
4. Do I Need A Cover For The Top My Gutter?
The answer is Yes! We suggest getting Leaf Solution to addresses any leaf issues you may have from the trees surrounding your house on your property. This system speaks for itself. In fact, we don’t use anything else. Unless of course you have no trees on your property which then you have nothing to worry about.
